Global job search

Rooted in Germany

More than 80 years ago, we chose to call Leverkusen, a city on the Rhine, the home of Covestro. We remain headquartered in the city to this day and are proud to be one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-tech polymers. The business location of Germany plays a vital role within the company’s global direction – around 7,200 people (41 percent of our global workforce) work at seven production sites and in areas such as research, logistics, and back office.

Close cooperation – from north to south

With our site in Leverkusen, we liked North Rhine–Westphalia so much that we set up two other production sites in the state: one in Dormagen and one in Krefeld-Uerdingen. The two locations are no more than 70 kilometers apart and employ roughly 6,350 people. By the way, it doesn’t matter if you come from elsewhere and haven’t heard of any of these places. Come and visit us to discover them for yourself.

We also operate other sites in the far north of the country. In Brunsbüttel, in the north, Covestro performs two separate activities, managing its own production sites and operating Covestro`s industrial park in Brunsbüttel. Covestro manufactures high-quality synthetic resins at its site in Meppen, while the Covestro subsidiary in Bomlitz produces technical specialty films of the highest quality. And at its Buxtehude site, Pontacol GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Covestro, develops and produces high-quality thermoplastic adhesive films for industrial applications.

    TDI plant Dormagen

    Largest energy efficiency project

With a new steam compressor in its TDI production facility, Covestro is investing in its largest energy efficiency project to date in Germany, located in Dormagen. The plant is scheduled to go into operation in 2027 and is expected to reduce the company’s energy consumption in Germany by approximately two percent. At the same time, it will save more than 40,000 tons of CO₂ annually.

  • 2024
    Climate neutrality

Climate neutrality target for Scope 3 emissions

Covestro aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions upstream and downstream in the value chain (Scope 3) by ten million tons by 2035. In the long term, Covestro aims to achieve climate neutrality for Scope 3 emissions by 2050.

  • 2022

Pioneer in the supply of renewable* TDI

Covestro produces the renewable* TDI on the basis of the mass balance method. This involves adding raw materials from biomass or waste at an early stage of raw material extraction and attributing them mathematically to the finished products. Offering mass-balanced TDI is another milestone in making this important chemical raw material even more sustainable.
