CJL was founded in 2007 as Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) Japan Ltd. With the carve out from Bayer, BMS Japan was renamed into Covestro Japan Ltd. that is now the mother company of the Covestro group in Japan. Its main business activities include the import and sales of polycarbonates and of Specialty Films, as well as polycarbonates application development.

Polycarbonate is a lightweight, high-performance resin with excellent impact resistance and strength. Its transparency and heat resistance make it an ideal material for automotive lighting applications, and it is also used for interior components. With its high design flexibility, polycarbonate is widely utilized in the electronics and healthcare industries as well.

Specialty Films represents Covestro's polycarbonate films, TPU films, and hologram films. These solutions are high-value-added products that leverage Covestro's advanced technology. These films are used across a wide range of markets, including mobility, electronics, ID & security, and medical applications.
