Covestro employees join Allegheny CleanWays to help prepare Pittsburgh for a historic weekend
Publication date: April 2026
As Pittsburgh prepared to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors for the 2026 NFL Draft, Covestro employees joined others across the region in helping the city put its best foot forward.
In partnership with long-time community partner Allegheny CleanWays, Covestro volunteers organized one of the company’s largest community cleanups in recent years, helping remove litter and beautify neighborhoods and public spaces across the Pittsburgh area.
The effort was part of Covestro’s commitment to Brighter Planet, one of the focus areas within its Brighter Communities program. Through Brighter Planet, Covestro supports initiatives that promote environmental stewardship and encourage employees to take action in the communities where they live and work.
The timing of the cleanup made the effort particularly meaningful. With an estimated 700,000 people expected to visit Pittsburgh for the NFL Draft, the city had spent months preparing for the international spotlight. Covestro employees wanted to contribute to those efforts while making a lasting difference in their local community.
Nearly 2,000 pounds removed
Together, Covestro volunteers collected 1,981 pounds of trash during the cleanup — more than the company’s previous two cleanups combined.
The latest effort brings Covestro’s total to approximately 4,500 pounds of litter collected over the past four years through its partnership with Allegheny CleanWays.
Beyond the number of bags filled or pounds collected, the cleanup reflects what can happen when employees, community organizations and local partners come together around a shared goal: creating cleaner, healthier and more vibrant places to live.
Making a lasting impact
Covestro’s partnership with Allegheny CleanWays is one example of how employees bring the spirit of Brighter Planet to life through hands-on action.
Community cleanups not only improve public spaces, but also encourage greater awareness of the role everyone can play in protecting the environment. By volunteering their time and energy, Covestro employees are helping create a cleaner Pittsburgh today while contributing to a brighter future for the community.
As Pittsburgh welcomed visitors from around the world for a historic weekend, Covestro was proud to play a small part in helping the city shine — and looks forward to continuing its work with community partners to make Pittsburgh brighter, one cleanup at a time.
