Covestro introduced its new Clear Window solution concept for polycarbonate ID card and passport data page for the first time at the 13th Security Document Summit (SDS) which just won the prestigious Blue Shield Innovation Technology Award on October 17, 2018.
Clear Window in ID card and passport data page feature prominently in some of today’s identification document programs.
Compared to other clear window offerings whereas the card’s punched window needs to be filled with a separate transparent module & process, this new concept can reduce the overall polycarbonate card & passport data page construction cycle time and also increase security due to the complexity to replicate and attack the document
This new concept in Clear Window technology is enabled using Covestro’s thin opaque white 30 microns polycarbonate film - Makrofol® ID 4-4 160016 whereas the transparent overlay layer can naturally fill the punched window area of the thin opaque white polycarbonate film during the overall card and passport data page lamination process.
“Covestro takes the Clear Window security concept to a whole new level by optimizing the polycarbonate ID document construction process while at the same time make things difficult for criminals to alter & replicate. ” says Markus Mingenbach, Covestro’s Head of Specialty Films business in Asia Pacific.
